Nine year old Jack Johnson from Atlanta, GA. took this turkey on
Sunday morning in a rainstorm! He didn't miss a wakeup call from
Friday morning until Sunday morning. He took a shot at a turkey on
Saturday, but the turkey outsmarted them. But he made his shot on
Sunday. In between times he and his Dad, Jeff, were fishing in the
Lodge Lake for bass & bream. He is quite the outdoorsman! His
guide was the renowned, Joe Smith.
Haley
Cox, from Panama City, came with her Dad, Steve, for a weekend of
bream fishing. In between rain showers they managed to catch over a
hundered bass & bream from Friday afternoon until Saturday
afternoon. They are shown here with a stringer of 30 that they kept.
Steve is the editor or the FATC News quarterly magazine for avid
Florida Lure collectors. I am sure he will have a story for the next
magazine! | |

We woke up on Sunday, March 1st to a blanket
of snow here at White Oak which is rare in this part of the country.
Not to worry, a week later we had blue skies, warm temperatures, and
the bass were biting as usual. Donovan Gore is one of our regular
fisherman and the pictures below tell the story of his latest trip.

Deer season has ended and we enjoyed having
so many good friends visit us this year! There were some fabulous bucks
taken this season with a considerable increase in body weight. There
were more 200-pound-plus deer harvested this year than we can remember
from past years. All of the deer pictures will be posted as the year
progresses, so please visit the site frequently. Now it is time to turn
our attention to Spring Gobblers! Here are some hunters and their
gobblers from the 2008 season.

Whitener Family Enjoys Two Days of Fun and Fishing at

Some of the Fishing Potos from 2007
A Good Time Was Had By All!!
The Moorer family, of Bay Minette, AL, visited White Oak Plantation on August 18 and 19. Twenty four hours of fishing produced a big catch of Bream. Cory, with sons, Cameron, 10, and Caleb, 7, had a great time fishing while Renee' relaxed in the cool of the Lodge. Even in 100-degree weather, the Bream continued to bite!
This Could Be Your Boat, Waiting For You....
It rests lightly on the surface of the lake. The batteries are hot, and somewhere, just in the background, the egrets are waking up on the rookery. It isn't quite sun-up; the great bass fishing hasn't yet begun. Give it a half-hour.
But that boat is waiting, quietly, expectantly. The fish wait with it, just for you. You bring the boat and we'll provide the lodging and meals, complete with a clean, modern room, and all the fine southern cooking you can handle. The boat and the fish are up to you. We'll take care of everything else!
Oh yes... The sunrises and sunsets are free. You can't put a price on that!

August Is Proving To Be A Good Month For Bass
Carroll Whitener, at left, poses with five nice bass caught the first week in August. Two fishermen, fishing five half-days, caught 338 largemouth bass, which weighed from 2 to 6 pounds! All these were catch and release, so they are still in the lake waiting for you!
Larry Woody and John Sloan had a great day bass fishing the 3rd week in July!
John Sloan, freelance outdoor writer, and Larry Woody, sports writer from the Nashville Tennesseean, guided by Ricky Baker, fished one day and caught 50 (plus or minus) largemouth bass in the 2.5 to 5 lbs range. All of these fish were put in the live well as they began catching them and were released after the picture was taken. They are still in the lake and ready for the next group!! These agressive large mouth bass are less than 3 years old and are growing like crazy!!
Larry Lucas and family recently visited White Oak Plantation:
"Robert, I just wanted to say thank you. You, Hilda and staff made my daughter and wife very happy. I too enjoyed looking through your significant Florida lure collection. If anyone gets the opportunity to visit White Oak Plantation, near Auburn, Alabama, make the effort. What a great place to relax, catch some fish, eat good food and look at one of the finest tackle collections anywhere." Thanks again, Larry, Beth and Ariana Lucas.
ALABAMA BREAM FISHING IS BOOMING!!
These were taken from the White Oak Plantation LODGE LAKE in April .
Over 76 big bream were taken in one morning by Donovan Gore, Andy Langley and Mr. Langley. These bream are technically Coppernosed Bluegills. Many of the Bluegills are weighing in at over a pound. Shellcrackers over 2 lbs. were common. The largest Bluegill in May weighed in at 1 lb 6 oz. All 6 ponds are open for bank fishing. Some of these lakes have been stocked for over 20 years with Crappie, Shellcrackers and native Bluegills. More recently the lakes have been stocked with Coppernosed Bluegills, a more agressive, faster growing strain. The creel limit is set weekly, so it is best to check before you plan your trip. Fishing is for member s and guests, and overnight guests.

Bass & Bream Fishing is great at White Oak!
Donovan Gore caught this 11 lb. 8 oz. largemouth bass on March 21, 2007. Check the "Rates and Dates" in our fishing section for special Travelling Membership Packages now available. Try your luck in one of our well-stocked lakes! Two new 35 acre lakes are now open for fishing. Bring your own boat and electric motor. The bass are reaching 5 lbs and fishermen are pulling in 50 - 75 per day. This is Catch and Release.
